This small, low cost and handy compass is based on the typical type of escape and evasion compass supplied to aircrews and other military personnel because it's easy to conceal on the person and hide if they are captured. Of course the plus for civilians is that it's so tiny at just 2 cm across that it's not going take up much space and can be added to a survival kit or any collection of items for use in an emergency. Though people frequently do not even own a compass these days this would certainly get them out of trouble if either or both cellphone coverage and the SatNav failed.
